When and How to Seed Your Lawn

If you want a healthy lawn, you need good soil. Most turfgrasses prefer neutral soils. To be sure that your efforts aren’t in vain, always perform a soil test first and make the recommended adjustments. A Lowe’s Garden Center associate can help you interpret the results of a soil test and provide appropriate recommendations. We will gladly take your soil there for testing, then help you with the treatment.

When you’re planning to sow grass seed, do not apply a weed preventer (liquid or granular) or use weed and feed fertilizer. You can control weeds only after new grass seedlings have been mowed at least four times. Any weed controls applied at the same time seed is sown will prevent germination and/or kill immature seedlings.
